Holler’s dark, raw music, with punchy guitar riff work, solid beats and hauntingly powerful vocals create a unique and edgy sound. The lyrics are an intimate release of thought and emotion. This group’s forceful, sometimes intimidating point of view is undeniably thought provoking.
Holler has achieved honorable success with their debut eleven-song album, “A Little Piece of Quiet”. Their single, “On and On” has been a hit on the West Coast, rocketing through the charts to #2 at 94XFM in Prince George, as well as being one of the most requested on Seattle’s web station, The Edge. CD sales have reflected the band’s popularity containing all the components of a mega hit.
Vocalist Tricia Evans and guitarist Brad Taylor are the driving force and writing team behind Holler. Individually, they are powerful and confident composers, but as a team, they are able to produce music that audiences are drawn into.
From session player and free-lance musician, to band member and piano instructor, Tricia Evans has participated in almost every avenue of music there is. She has trained in music performance and composition, as well as music education specializing in conducting. This extensive post-secondary study of music, in particular jazz, works its way to formulate a unique sound for Holler, and a signature sound for herself. She is able to captivate listeners with her unique sound and dynamic stage presence. In a male-dominated industry, her voice carries over and above what listeners are used to hearing.
Brad Taylor has been playing guitar and writing music for most of his life. After playing in various bands and being involved with various projects, Brad decided to focus his talent inward and develop his own unique style of writing and producing. It is very seldom that you see him away from his home recording studio, as he spent endless hours creating and developing new music and sounds.
Drummer Tyler Taylor has competed in the Lionel Hampton International Jazz Festival open class, recorded at Disneyland Studios, has won numerous awards in the Mid-America Competing Band Directors Association open class.
Guitarist Mike Schurko began his music career on an old Flying V kicking around his house. With no formal training, he quickly began picking up guitar licks listening to bands such as Metallica and Tool. Mike’s versatile ability on bass, guitar and vocals makes him a solid asset to the backbone of Holler.
Brad Taylor says, "The Album was recorded at Greenhouse Studios in Vancouver. We used One Mac G4 with Pro tools 6.2 and another G4 for editing. The power and the ease of use of the G4 gave us the ability to record hassle-free. Not having to deal with audio dropouts gave us more time to focus on musical creativity as opposed to technical problems. We only wish that we had a Mac for our home studio."
